Creating A Logo For My Business
I thought I'd share the process I went through for creating a logo for my art business. Which can be a daunting task. "What if it looks dumb!?" Who cares? If it doesn't work out, then, you change it. That's what I did anyway. First of all, I went on a web hunt. Since my business name is Barbara Campbell Art, I looked for other people with my name that have a business. Believe it or not, I found a jeweler in NYC with the same name and a great logo. Her logo was the inspiration for the first incarnation.
Happy designing!

My Painting Process
For this painting, I looked through my pattern art papers, placed them on the canvas, then experimented with color. I really wanted to have a lot of texture in this work so, I used Cold Wax Medium and scraped it with a palette knife. After that, I painted over it with oil paint and oil pastels. The final part of the process was taking a photo of the work and playing with it in Photoshop until I created something I liked.
Social Media Maze
I've been doing a lot of mind numbing research on social media market for my artwork. So far, I've found a ton of useful info on the Artists Helping Artists blog and podcast. I also found a ton of helpful books at the library. Such as, Pinterest for Business, The Social Media Bible, and Likeable Social Media. I love free stuff! At this point, I've setup all my social media accounts. Which has been a process for me as I'm new to it all. I'm learning a ton and looking forward to the process.
